PHILIPPINE SPECIALTY BOARD OF INTERNAL MEDICINE (PSBIM) EXAMINATION

APPLICATION FORM

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Completed scanned application form (No need to Notarize)

2. Completed scanned PSBIM Diplomate Waiver Form.

3. Valid Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) license (valid at least until the date of the examination) or PRC equivalent for foreign graduates (electronic copy)

4. Residency Training Diploma

a. For a candidate who graduated earlier than October 1, 2024, the requirement as proof of completion of residency training is a certified true copy of the Diploma. The minimum authorized signatories of the diploma should include: Chair and Training Officer of the Department of Internal Medicine, and Medical Director of the hospital. The certified true copy must come from the authorized office and signed by the designated officer of the training center.

b. For a candidate who graduates between October 1, 2024 and January 31, 2025, and intends to take the PSBIM examination on March 1 and/or 2, 2025, but whose Diploma may not be available by January 15, 2024 (deadline for submission of complete documents), a letter certifying that the trainee has completed/or will complete the Residency Training in Internal Medicine by January 31, 2024 will be accepted. This certification letter must be duly signed by the Chair and Training Officer of the Department of Internal Medicine, and another signature representing the Administration (Medical Director or Chief of Clinics or Chair of the Department of Medical Education and Training) will be accepted. The diploma, however, must be submitted when applying for the oath taking for Diplomate in the same year.

c. In case a candidate is trained in > 2 different institutions, he/she must submit ‘certified true copies’ of both the Diploma of completion of residency training program, and letter of certification that he/she had satisfactorily completed a particular Year Level of residency training program from the respective institution. This certification letter must be duly signed by the Chair and Training Officer of the Department of Internal Medicine, and another signature representing the Administration (Medical Director or Chief of Clinics or Chair of the Department of Medical Education and Training) will be accepted. The diploma, however, must be submitted when applying for the oath taking for Diplomate in the same year.

4. 2×2 high-resolution picture with white background wearing black formal attire.

5. Proof of payment of examination fee and other monetary obligation (Annual Dues)

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT FOR FOREIGN MEDICAL GRADUATES/PHYSICIANS (FMP) WHO HAVE COMPLETED RESIDENCY TRAINING IN PCP-ACCREDITED HOSPITALS


6. They must have valid temporary permits to practice (TPP) yearly issued and renewed by the PRC during their training.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE GRADUATES OF ACCREDITED TRAINING INSTITUTION BEFORE 2005


7. May be referred to another institution by the PSBIM to undergo evaluation of clinical competence, OR can ask for an endorsement letter from the chair of a training institution or PCP chapter president in the area where he/she is practicing. The endorsement letter must confirm the competent practice of the candidate. The endorsement letter will take the place of the clinical competence evaluation.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS TO THE GRADUATE IN PHILIPPINE MEDICAL SCHOOLS COMPLETED OF ACCREDITED FOREIGN INTERNAL MEDICINE TRAINING PROGRAMS MUST SUBMIT:

8. Certification letter that passed the Clinical Competence Exam.

9. Certificate of Completion of Internal Medicine duly signed by the Program Director of the Training Institution.


10. Certificate of good moral character from the Training Institution of origin.


11. Diploma of the Degree of Doctor of Medicine.

12. Copy of PRC ID

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT TO THE CANDIDATES WHO GRADUATED DECEMBER 2021 OR EARLIER WHO WILL TAKE THE PSBIM FOR THE FIRST TIME


13. Must secure endorsement from the Chair, the Training Officer and the Medical Director where his/her training was obtained.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO CANDIDATES APPLYING FOR THE PSBIM EXAMINATION:

Should there be any change in the candidates’ qualifications which would affect his/her eligibility to take the written examination, it is the responsibility of BOTH the candidate and the training institution to inform the PSBIM of the deficiencies leading to the inability to qualify for the examination. Within the 1st week of February, PSBIM will send (by emails) a list of the eligible candidates to the training institution. The letter will be addressed to the Chair, Training Officer and Medical Director. The institution must write back to PSBIM (both email and courier) on or before Feb 08 stating whether the candidates are truly qualified or still have deficiencies and therefore are not qualified to take the examination. In case of deficiencies, the candidate must make the proper withdrawal from the examination in accordance with the policies concerning examination fees.

The PSBIM reserves the right to disqualify from or nullify the examination of any candidate who is found to be deficient in his/her qualifications to take the written examination.
